The beach at Oludeniz is the closest at 4km, it is 10 mins in a Dolmus or taxi, but has both plenty to see and plenty to do. The Mediterranean sea is a lovely blue along this coast particularly the Blue Lagoon at Oludeniz. The beach-front is well served with shops and entertainment of all types and is a good place to look for things to do and presents to take home |

Pamukkale must be seen for the beauty of its unique geology From hot springs in a cliff almost 200 m high overlooking the plain, calcite-laden waters have created a "Cotton Castle" (Pamukkale is the Turkish word for Cotton Castle ) The Ionian and Roman Kings once came to bathe in the "healing waters" Many local companies offer a day trip |

In the mountains above Fethiye a rushing torrents cuts a narrow gorge through the mountains, creating Saklikent (Hidden City) It is also a beautiful place to spend a day with a 3km trek through the gorge and excellent restaurants specialising in local caught trout. In the village called Kaya or Kayaköy (Karmylassos), Greek people used to live in peace under the rule of the Ottoman Empire until in 1923 there was an agreed exchange of people between Greece and Turkey The Greeks left but the Turks did not want to return to this village so the buildings stood empty and were ruined by time and earthquakes The Ghost village of Kayakoy is the result - near Hisaronu and has great restaurants nearby |

Fethiye and Hisaronu have weekly markets full of local produce and locally produced clothes, carpets and other goods that Turkey is famous for. Particularly famous is the daily fish market in Fethiye, where you can buy fresh tuna steaks and BBQ them later the same day or restaurants near will cook them for you |

| Paraglide from Babadag mountain in tandem flight with an instructor, cost £40-£60 and takes 15-30 mins to descend - but well worth it! With the combination of high take off point (2000 metres) and gentle sea breezes, this is considered to be one of the best places in the world for paragliding (that's my knee!) |  |

There are many other activities which can be booked in Oludeniz or Hisaronu, most are quite a reasonable cost, and most include pick up at apartment and drop back. The best are - sea fishing from boats they go out from Fethiye, horse riding, jeep safari, sea kayaking, canyoning and white water rafting on River Dalaman |

| From Oludeniz there are half or full day cruises around local sites, with the chance to swim in the clear blue water and see the caves, fishes and islands |  |

There are many companies offering a variety of scuba diving or snorkeling courses - from one day (2 dives) beginners course scuba diving to RIB boats going out regularly for experienced divers. The area has natural beauty and reefs to see fishes and underwater caves, and you can sometimes see dolphins playing around the boat! |
